Watching the Leonids in 2023
The shower is active for weeks, but rates climb sharply in the day or two around the peak. Watch on the night of and the nights on either side, ideally after midnight local time when the radiant is highest. Dark skies: the Moon will hardly interfere. Get away from streetlights, lie back, and let your eyes adapt for twenty minutes; no telescope or binoculars needed, since meteors streak across a wide patch of sky.
