Mars and Jupiter close together
What is happening
Mars and Jupiter appear only 1.2° apart, close enough to fit in the same binocular field. Look in the direction of the brighter planet.
Positions come from the JPL approximate planetary elements and are good to a few arcminutes; timings are accurate to within an hour or so.
